What is a Health Coach?
Whether it comes to health, life, or physical appearance, a coach is often the first person many people are drawn to when looking to change their lifestyle to optimize how they feel, look, or perform. Coaches can also be an integral part of a client's support system and can serve as a bridge between patients and doctors, helping them better understand their diagnosis and their recommended treatments. Being heard, feeling consistent support, and having accountability play a huge role in sustainable change. A practitioner's role is to be the expert, diagnose, and treat. A health coach offers additional support by discussing your health concerns at a deeper level and remaining committed to guiding you throughout your journey. Working with an empathetic and compassionate health coach in a judgment-free environment can put a client at ease as they take their first steps toward better health. The reality is change is messy! It takes a village of support to help navigate our health and life to create sustainable change and find optimal health and fulfillment.

My Background as a Coach
I have a solid understanding of the foundations of Functional Medicine and the Science of Nutrition. My training also includes working closely with clients around lifestyle factors that influence health, such as sleep, nutrition, exercise, movement, stress, and social connection. With the addition of my coaching skills, this background allows me to understand and support my clients through Functional Medicine treatment plans they or a treating practitioner implement.
I am not a practitioner or medical expert. Therefore, I do not assess, prescribe, diagnose, treat, or interpret results.
Instead, I have been trained in behavioral change. My strengths are helping my clients draw on their internal strengths, develop self-awareness, and embrace self-management strategies that will help my clients make challenging lifestyle changes necessary to optimize their health.

What to Expect During a Typical Session
As a health coach, I consider my clients as a whole - how they think and feel, how they live, and why they act the way they do. My process is fully client-centered. I am here to serve as a collaborator and a guide who listens, learns, observes, and carefully analyzes the whole picture. I aim to learn each client's needs and understand their values and priorities. As we work together, I support the client in making decisions and setting realistic goals and expectations. Together we work to identify skills, practices, and sustainable daily actions to achieve those goals.
